The title of Saurabh Varma's next Meet The Patels has been changed after the US based company Billion Pictures which has produced a documentary by the same name, sent a legal communication to Krian Media, producers of the Shiv Pandit, Ali Asgar, Shazahn Padamsee, Ketan Singh and Vaishali Desai starrer family comedy.
Says a source, "The Indian-American Meet The Patels is a 88mins documentary film which has travelled to few film festivals. Krian Media had registered the title with IFTPC (earlier called AMPTTP) without being aware of the documentary. There have been several instances anyway where we have similar names of films in India and abroad. Example: Avatar and recently Action Jackson"
When asked, director Saurabh Varma, he says, "We are legally sorted as our title is registered with IFTPC but we have chosen to change it voluntarily. We actually consider this notice as a compliment because this indicates that there is awareness about our film. The new title Solid Patels captures the quirkiness and madness of our film."
While Varma's film will release in April next year, the first trailer of the film will be released with PK in theatres. The entire film has been shot in a month, in a start-to-finish schedule and the post production is in full swing.
